THREE GREAT FACILITIES FOR HIRE

1. THE SPORTS HALL

We call this "SPACE", has a sprung floor ideal for dance or keep fit use and is approximately 40ft x 22ft (12.2m x 6.7m) i.e. 880 sq.ft. (82m²). We can provide tables and chairs to accommodate up to 60 people (our maximum permitted capacity). Tables are height adjustable for use by most children. The facilities include a well equipped kitchen area (please see inventory list), separate purpose designed children’s toilet and adult male/female/disabled toilet.

2. OUTDOOR MULTI-USE GAMES AREA

We call this "Outer SPACE", is floodlit and surfaced to tennis court standard. It is marked for netball, basketball, tennis or 5 a side football use. There is access to male & female changing rooms with showers and we provide goals, nets and hoops, but not rackets or balls.

3. MEETING ROOM

We call this “Social SPACE”, is approximately 240 sq.ft.(22m²),  large enough to accommodate meetings, classes and social events for up to 20 people (depending on format), with its own kitchen facilities and a balcony overlooking the Outer SPACE multi use games area and Bookham Tennis Club courts. The facilities include access to the male & female changing rooms/toilets, a stairlift to the first floor, a hearing loop and are equipped with a projector and interactive whiteboard as aids to teaching and coaching.

GENERAL FACILITIES

We hold PPL and PRS licences so you are free to play recorded music legally, but any music must be switched off at 10.00 pm latest.

A disabled toilet that can be accessed from the main lobby and Outer Space, plus mobile ramp provides access capability throughout SPACE itself.

On site car park for up the 12 vehicles, including a marked disabled bay plus two bays for staff or activity organisers. We try to leave at least 15 minutes between SPACE bookings to allow the carpark to clear.

As a sports centre, SPACE is priority venue for Cardiac Defibrillators that can be easily and quickly accessed by the public in an emergency. The Cardiac Defibrillator is located in the corridor by the changing rooms.

TYPES OF HIRE

a) ONE OFF/ "CASUAL”:

This includes such activities as private functions and children’s parties held on weekdays or at the weekend. We are proud of the service we offer such events, for example, comments received include: "Thank you very much, we had a great party. Another wrote "What a lovely party we have just had at SPACE. Excellent facilities, room for the bouncy castle and for 45 guests and special thanks to you all. So very friendly, nothing was too much, thank you so much."

b) “REGULAR”:

For those wanting repeat sessions we are of course delighted to accommodate your needs if possible and offer discounted rates for block bookings that are invoiced and MUST be paid for advance. We can offer some on-site storage if required. Please note however we do not generally accept regular bookings at a weekend as those times are reserved for local community/casual hire.

HIRE CHARGES

Please see the Occasional Hire Agreement for full details of the facilities we offer and their prices.

For hiring SPACE alone we charge £15 per hour for the first 4 hours (includes the compulsory liability insurance) and £12 per hour thereafter.

For hiring Outer SPACE alone we charge £12 per hour for the first 4 hours (includes the compulsory liability insurance).

For hiring Social SPACE alone we charge £9 per hour for the first 4 hours (includes the compulsory liability insurance).

The Occasional Hire Agreement gives details of the discounted rates available for combined hiring of some or all the facilities. The Hirer has to pay the hire charge in advance to confirm the booking. In the event of cancellation at least six weeks prior to the booking, 75% of the hire fee will be refunded.

The Hirer must also provide a Security Deposit of £25 (or £50 if the booking is for 4 hours or more, or ends after 8pm). This is returnable unless damage is caused, extra attendance by SPACE personnel is required or additional cleaning is needed. NB: Hirer is required to clean up premises after use (see clause 19 of the Conditions of Hire).

Regular Hirers must also provide a Security Deposit of £25.This is returnable unless damage is caused, extra attendance by SPACE personnel is required or additional cleaning is needed or if keys are not returned if the Hirer stops their booking. Regular Hires:

Please contact us by email to discuss arrangements. South Bookham SPACE requires all those who run activities at SPACE to commit to our Safeguarding Policy and procedures, which clearly outline the responsibilities of all those who use South Bookham SPACE.
