Our Vision

  • To create a vibrant and enticing community centre in South Bookham serving the needs of the widest spectrum of local residents and contributing towards making South Bookham a great place to live.
  • To focus on sport and physical activity and provide facilities to offer local residents of all ages and abilities, especially early years and youth, the opportunity to participate in a wide range of physical and entertaining activities.

South Bookham SPACE Ltd. is a registered charity which is run on an entirely voluntary basis by local residents. It was formed to create a vibrant community centre on Dorking Road in south Bookham, as there is no other community building in this area of 5,000 residents, which includes two major housing association estates.

A survey, conducted in October 2017, showed that over 450 people were attending up to 18 different activities taking place each week at South Bookham SPACE and Outer SPACE. This included residents of all ages; from almost 30 under 5s attending such activities as the TinyTalk parent and baby signing classes, to more than 100 over 60s enjoying a whole range of activities, including Bridge, Pilates and Tennis. In addition, the survey reported that about 100 local residents, mainly children under 10, come to parties at SPACE each month.
